Investigation In Building 54
The Safety Department
received a call from a concerned employee that a fire had
damaged a diesel pump at Building 54. The employee
advised that while reporting to work he noticed that the
area was damaged by what appeared to have been a fire.
The Fire Chief and Safety reported to the area to find that
a fire had occurred, apparently overnight, near the diesel
pumps and had indeed damaged the pumps as well an emergency
eyewash station. Upon investigating it was found that
the fire was started by an electrical malfunction in nearby
heat tape which then spread to the hose of the diesel pump.
The fire self extinguished.
